October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to recognize the many forms gender-based violence and abuse take, including female genital cutting (FGC) and to honor the strength and resilience of survivors. FGC often occurs within family systems and is rooted in the same power dynamics and gender inequalities that drive domestic violence.
Join us for Sahiyo’s 4th Annual CelebrateHer: Comedy & Auction, a five-day virtual event celebrating women, laughter, and community during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. While centered on the experiences of survivors impacted by FGC and gender-based violence, this event welcomes and uplifts people of all gender identities who are impacted by these forms of violence.

Subhah Agarwal
Subhah Agarwal is a comedian who has written for Netflix’s “Arsenio! Live,” “The Jim Jefferies Show"on Comedy Central, "Comedy Knockout" on TruTv, amongst others. She has released two hours of comedy: a Comedy Dynamics special titled “Airport Pigeon” on most platforms including Amazon and a YouTube special “Dog Show” recorded with Blonde Medicine Records. You can see her late night debut on NBC’s "A Little Late With Lilly Singh." She had a supporting lead role in the movie “Plan B,” appeared on season three of HBO's "Westworld," “General Hospital,” on TruTv's sketch comedy "Friends of the People," and as herself on MTV2, Comedy Central, Gotham Comedy Live, and more.
Pallavi Gunalan
Pallavi is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, improviser, biomedical engineer, and a fan of the Oxford comma. She currently writes for Lovett or Leave It with Crooked Media, hosts her own comedy, politics, and pop culture podcast called City Counsel, and performs stand-up all over the U.S. and India. Featured for Maria Bamford and opened for Jay Leno, Arsenio Hall, Moses Storm, Preacher Lawson, and Todd Barry.
Aivy Cordova
Born in the Philippines and raised in the Bay Area, Aivy Cordova (it's pronounced "Ivy") began her comedy career in San Francisco and now performs regularly through North America. Aivy was included in Kollective Hustle’s “6 Rising Filipino Americans & Canadians In Comedy To Watch” article in 2022, made her SF Sketchfest debut in 2023 and was the first female headliner at NYC’s Filipino Comedy Festival the same year. When not on the road, Aivy lives in the Bay Area with her son and her cats.
